Admission requirements

Q: What are the specific admission requirements for the programme?

A: The admission requirements and selection criteria are described at www.au.dk/en/admission/master/ameuskem.htm

Q: I am not sure if my BA degree qualifies me for this programme – how can I find out?

A: You are welcome to contact us at cek@au.dk and ask. But in less obvious cases it will be up to the admission board to decide if your BA degree meets the requirement of being a relevant BA within Humanities or Social Sciences, so in some cases we cannot say for sure until we have received and processed the application.

Application procedure

Q:Where can I get the application form ?

A: The admission requirements and the application procedure as well as the application form is described at www.au.dk/en/admission/master/ameuskem.htm

Q: What is the application deadline ?

A: The application deadline is 1 March, for studies beginning 1 September.

Q: What does it mean that my documents have to be certified copies ?

A: Copies (original copies or photo copies) of BA diplomas, transcripts of exam results, language test results and other official documents must bear original stamps and signatures as proof of their authenticity. The certification is usually made by the institution that issued the original document (BA university, British Council for the IELTS test), but stamps and signatures from public notaries, embassies, the police or similar are also accepted.

Q: I do not finish my BA / get my language test result until later this Spring/Summer, so I cannot send all my documents by the deadline – what do I do then?

A: If you are an EU/EEA citizen or if you already have a residence permit in Denmark, you can reforward any missing documents until 1 July. But please note that you have to supply as much documentation as possible by 1 March, including a transcript of your BA results up to the time of application, otherwise we will not have enough basis for evaluating your application.

Non-EU/EEA applicants without a residence permit in Denmark must unfortunately supply all the documentation by 1 March, or wait a year before applying – the process of applying for a residence permit can only begin after the applicants have been formally admitted, so there is not time enough to wait for reforwarded documents.

Q: Do the CV and the motivation letter have to be in a specific format?

A: No they do not, but make sure to include any experiences relevant to the programme (work, studies, organisational work etc.), as these are an important factor in the evaluation of your application.

Q: Whereto do I send the application, and whereto do I send possible separate documents?

A: The letter with the application form and enclosures should be send to the Studies Office (address is on the form).

Any documents that are sent separately by the application deadline or are reforwarded later must also be sent directly to the studies office.

Admission/enrolment

Q: When will I get a reply to my application ?

A: Letters of admission and letters of rejection are sent by letter as well as email in April/early May.

A: Unfortunately that is not possible, the offer of admission is only valid for this year. If you wish to enrol next year, you have to apply again by next year’s deadline.

Q: Is it possible to begin studies in February ?

A: No, you can only enter the programme in September.

Economic matters

Q: What is the tuition fee for this programme?

A: EU/EEA citizens and other applicants who already have a permanent residence permit in Denmark do not pay tuition fees.

Non-EU/EEA applicants have to pay €9.100 per year/60 ECTS credits.

Q: Are there scholarships/grants for international students, and if so, how can I apply?

A: The university administers a few scholarships plus tuition free study places per year for non-EU/EEA students (who otherwise have to pay tuition fees), but you cannot apply for them. The applicants with the best qualifications are nominated for them by our university.

We do not unfortunately administer any scholarships or grants for EU/EEA students.

A number of Cultural agreements between Denmark and countries both within and outside the EU offer students the possibility of applying for Government Scholarships. If your application is successful this scholarship may cover part of the study period at our programme – see www.ciriusonline.dk/default.aspx for details. You apply through the relevant national agency in your home country, and the application deadline for these scholarships are usually some time before our application deadlines.
