Research Profile

The Department of European Studies conducts research in a wide variety of European subjects focusing on both the European Union and wider Europe.

Among the prioritised themes of research are the concepts and discourses of identity in Europe and European identity politics; the history of key concepts in European self-perception; minorities and minority rights in Europe; nationalism and multiculturalism in Europe; cultural policies of the European Union; the cultural construction of European integration; language policies in Europe; the integration of immigrants in Europe; European and EU history; the EU’s policies towards agriculture and foods; the financing structure of the EU;Foreign politics in the EU; the role of Norden in Europe; the role of Central and Eastern European countries in Europe; language, communication and gender in Europe.
