Master’s Thesis – Rules and Procedures
The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation of Denmark has passed regulations for handing in Master’s Thesis (cf. Executive Order No. 864 of 5 th July 2007)
It appears from the new Master’s thesis regulations that:
- There is a binding time limit on a semester from the commencement of the Master’s thesis till its completion;
- A wording of the assignment and a plan of supervision must be available for approval by the director of studies at the beginning of writing the Master’s thesis;
- The director of studies sets a deadline for handing in the Master’s thesis;
- If the Master’s thesis has not been handed in at the deadline set, it is a wasted examination attempt – the director of studies then sets an altered wording of the assignment within the same subject and sets a new deadline for handing in three months later.
The regulations are valid as per 1st September 2007.
The board of studies of the Institute of History and Area Studies (IHO) has passed intermediate rules for the period 1st September 2007 – 31st January 2008.
The board of studies has set internal regulations and procedures valid from 1 st February 2008.
